Mettler Toledo
Andrew Bick is Mettler-Toledo’s Regional Head of South Korea / Pacific and General Manager of Australia & New Zealand. He oversees a team of more than 1,000 across the region, including 200 people in Australia.
The highlights
"For the last two and a half years of the pandemic, the biggest concern I've had is the health and safety of my people, including their families and communities."
“We have now rolled out the vaxxvault solution across our entire team of 200 people in Australia and adoption has been really fantastic.”
“Before vaxxvault we were really reluctant to bring people back into the workplace. It's very much given us the confidence to bring our people back."
“We're now hoping to expand vaxxvault to our team of 300 in Korea, 500 in Japan and 50 in New Zealand.”
The challenge
“Mettler-Toledo is a global supplier of precision equipment – primarily in the food production, pharmaceutical, medical and chemical industries.”
“Many of our team of technicians, engineers and chemists are out on the road, visiting client facilities and factories and returning to the office environment, so we’re conscious of how the virus could spread.”
“For the last two and a half years of the pandemic, the biggest concern I’ve had is the health and safety of my people, including their families and communities.”
“Given our clients and the industries we work in, we’ve taken a very cautious approach to health and safety, so our offices have been closed and we’ve been working from home for most of the last two years.”
“Our COVID-safe policy is for our staff to be up to date with their vaccinations and to complete weekly RAT tests before they visit the office or are out working with clients.”
“Before vaxxvault we were managing all of our COVID information using Microsoft Sharepoint. It was a highly manual process, where people could upload their certificates and results into a folder with strict protocols. But it was a really cumbersome process that had no simple visibility, traceability or reminders. As a result, we decided it was easier and safer to just keep everyone working from home.”
The solution
“I actually first heard about vaxxvault when I saw the app being used to upload a RAT result by my in son in law, who is a senior AFL footballer. I saw how simple and quick it was to upload the results in the app and I thought I absolutely need that for my team.”
“We have now rolled out the vaxxvault solution across our entire team of 200 people in Australia and adoption has been really fantastic.”
“Normally IT systems can take months to get set up and then driving adoption is a real challenge. But with vaxxvault integration was seamless and easy. From that initial discussion, to signing up and rolling it out was only two weeks.”
“The vaxxvault team worked really well with us, supporting the integration, even doing townhall presentations and openly speaking about the system and security, to make sure the team felt comfortable.”
The results
“It supports our up-to-date vaccination status protocols, capturing vaccination certificates for all our staff as well as our regular COVID RAT testing program.”
“Now every Sunday night all our staff complete a RAT test, that we supply, and upload the results before they come into the office or a client’s site on Monday. They take a picture of the test result and a picture of the box and upload it into the system that confirms it’s a negative result and that staff member is able to come to work.”
“Administrators get an exception report if a test result isn’t uploaded, which sends a reminder to the staff member and an alert to the administrator. If the test still isn’t completed, then that staff member’s line manager is notified.”
“What Vaxxvault has done for us more than anything is give us the confidence to return to work. It provides us with the visibility to quickly confirm the COVID-compliance status of our team and the audit trail to verify it.”
“Rather than all these separate systems and processes that didn’t integrate, with vaxxvault we now have it all in one location, so we can quickly see vaccination status, who has and hasn’t been tested, and notify people to get up to date, all in one system. It took all these problems and solved them simply, seamlessly and in an affordable system.”
“We really understand the importance of keeping health information and data private, so one of the things I really like about vaxxvault is that the custodian of the data is me – the individual. Only I can see the data I upload, and even the administrator doesn’t have the rights to my data.”
“I was actually concerned when we introduced it to the team that they might think this is a bit ‘big brother’ and be concerned about their data. But everyone was overwhelmingly positive that we were going to that extra level to protect their health and safety.”
“It’s given the wider team the confidence that their employer is taking their health and safety seriously and that their colleagues are too.”
“When we are competitively bidding for work now and we get questions about our COVID-safe policies, vaxxvault puts us in a really leading position.”
“Before vaxxvault we were really reluctant to bring people back into the workplace. It’s very much given us the confidence to bring our people back.”
“We’re now hoping to expand vaxxvault to our team of 300 in Korea, 500 in Japan and 50 in New Zealand.”
